The SMiLE Method.
Slow • Move • Inquire • Listen • Embody
A simple, curious approach to coming back to yourself.
The SMiLE Method brings together mindful movement, breath, awareness, self-inquiry,
stillness and creativity, to help you build a more supportive relationship with yourself.
It isn’t about staying calm all the time. It’s about learning to notice what is happening,
respond with more awareness, and find your way back to balance.
SMiLE.
S
SLOW.
Pause. Create space. Shift out of autopilot.
Slowing down gives you a chance to notice what is actually happening before you automatically react.
M
MOVE.
Use conscious movement & breath to support your body and nervous system.
Movement can help us shift stuck patterns, release tension and reconnect with ourselves.
i
INQUIRE.
Turn your attention inward. Get curious.
Notice your thoughts, emotions, sensations and patterns – without immediately needing to fix, change or judge them.
L
LISTEN.
Listen to what your body is telling you.
What do you need? More space? Movement? Rest? A boundary? A change of direction?
Listening means learning to respond with kindness rather than simply repeating an old habit.
E
EMBODY.
Practise. Integrate. Live it.
With practice, these moments of awareness begin to become part of everyday life.
Calm isn’t something you have to chase. It becomes something you know how to return to.

It’s a Conversation with Yourself.
You might slow down, move slowly, to feel how you feel.
Movement might help you notice something.
Noticing might invite you to listen.
Listening might change how you respond.
And with practice, a new way of being starts to become more natural.
Then you begin again
One method. Many Ways.
The SMiLE Method brings together the practices and tools I use to help you reconnect with yourself:
- Mindful & somatic movement
- Breath & awareness
- Qigong & Yoga
- Meditation & stillness
- Self-inquiry
- Creativity & playful exploration
You don’t need to do all of them.
Sometimes the doorway is movement. Sometimes it’s breath. Sometimes it’s curiosity, creativity, stillness – or simply noticing that something doesn’t feel quite right.
The practice is learning what helps you come back to yourself.

From practice to Calm Habit.
You don’t build a Calm Habit by forcing yourself to be calm.
You build it by practising how to notice, respond and return.
The more often you pause, move, inquire, listen and embody, the more familiar that pathway becomes.
Little moments of awareness become new habits.
New habits change how you meet yourself — and your life.

It’s not about perfection.
Some days you might need to move.
Some days you might need to lie on the floor.
Some days you might need to breathe, draw, shake things out, go for a walk or simply stop pretending you’re fine.
And sometimes…
you might just need a cup of tea 🙂
The point isn’t to do it perfectly.
It’s to get curious about what you need.
